DMPBD50

Reviews of the DMP-BD50 Panasonic

Below are a selection of reviews of the DMP-BD50 blu-ray dvd player.

Review One

"The DMP-BD50 has outstanding audio and video performance via the HDMI. It's internal decoding of Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio to PCM output allows for a real sonic treat if your pre/pro lacks Dobly True HD and DTS Master Audio decoding.

It's not the quickest Blu-Ray dvd player to start-up time (not a disaster though) and for anyone whose pre/pro lacks HDMI input, 5.1 analog outputs the DMPBD50 might not be much use.

Anyway, I just got my DMP-BD50 and am extremely impressed with its performance. I did initally consider the DMP-BD30 but am glad I spent the extra. The lack of 1GB internal memory is not a major issue with the low cost of SD memory cards.

To me audio is a critical part of the video experience, and this player will not dissapoint. The video and audio performance of the DMP-BD50 is on a par with much more expensive blu-ray dvd players I've listened to. I might not know what a perfect one is like but this is close enough for me."

Review Two

"The Panasonic DMP-BD50 is the first profile 2.0 standalone blu-ray dvd player to go on sale. It's easily the best Panasonic has made so far too.

The DMPBD50 is the best Panasonic BLU-RAY player made so far. What is disappointing is that the DMP-BD50 doesn't have proper internal memory. So to properly use BD Live you will need to purchase a 1GB SD card.

Another disappointment is the DMP-BD50 only offers 5.1 analog outputs instead of 7.1 analog outputs. Of course you can use a modern receiver that is HDMI 7.1 PCM channel compatible to sort this out for you but anyone that owns old surround receivers or pre-pro without HDMI would be interested in 7.1 analog outputs.

The new Panasonic DMP-BD50 only allows for 100MB networking. Whether this is an issue or not I can't say, but thought it was worth mentioning. Otherwise I'm happy!"

Review Three

"I'm now on my third blu-ray dvd player. My new DMP-BD50 is connected to a Panasonic projector onto a 110 inch screen. My audio is sent out to my receiver through the player's Analog output.

I have done a test between my 3 players, and the winner is clearly the DMPBD50.

Basically, the 24 fps mode is the best I have seen so far. Colours are accurate and the depth is amazing. Plus the internal decoding of the DMPBD50 means I don't need a new receiver.

Would recommend this unit to anyone who is actually using an old receiver and a projector. You will be suprised by the quality of this blu-ray dvd player."
