DMP-BD50
Despite only going on sale during 2008, the DMP-BD50 has already been updated into the new DMP-BD55 as the latest blu-ray dvd player to go on sale from Panasonic.
Like the DMP-BD30 before it, which is still a very highly rated blu-ray dvd player, the added features just add to the appeal.
The DMP-BD50 is BD ROM Profile 2.0 enabled, and it's equipped with an Ethernet connection so you can access all the interactive features of BD-Live online. There's an SD card slot if you wish to save content.

One key difference is that the DMPBD50 now features on-board decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. This means you don't need a receiver equipped to decode these formats and can still enjoy high-definition audio via HDMI or the player's 5.1 multichannel analogue output.
As with the DMP-BD30, the Panasonic DMP-BD50 has a HDMI (V1.3) output, can upscale standard definition DVDs to 1080p and output a 1080p/24fps signal. The player's picture processing is done by the same, single UniPhier chip that you'll find in the DMP-BD30.
It is improved in the BD50 thought and first impressions are that it does the job, Blu-ray images having excellent edge definition and crispness, and creating a fantastic sense of reality.
DMP-BD50
The Panasonic DMP-BD50 is a great looking, well built Blu-ray Dvd Player that performs well at most things. It has the latest Blu-ray profile so there is fairly future proof, and has good picture and sound quality.
The DMP-BD50 isn't cheap, but as blu-ray comes of age, this does seem to be a good blu-ray dvd player for your money which is also future-proof.
